On November 11th, Jiuquan Iron & Steel Group (JISCO) held a product launch conference in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, themed “Zinc Leading, Aluminum Innovation, Magnesium Empowerment – New Generation Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Products,” showcasing for the first time the technological breakthroughs of its new generation of zinc-aluminum-magnesium (ESCS) products.
Du Xin, Vice General Manager and Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee of JISCO, and Zhao Hui, Vice President of the Metallurgical Industry Information and Standardization Research Institute, attended the conference and delivered speeches. More than 130 representatives from government departments, industry associations, research institutions, supply chain companies, and the media witnessed JISCO’s significant breakthrough in the field of new materials.
In his speech, Du Xin pointed out that choosing Wuxi for the new product launch was a strategic move by JISCO to integrate into the national development strategy and connect with the vast market of the Yangtze River Delta. The launch of the new generation of zinc-aluminum-magnesium products is a key achievement for JISCO in responding to the industry’s call for “preventing internal competition and stabilizing growth,” and in promoting the greening and high-end development of its product structure, demonstrating the company’s firm determination to drive development through innovation.
In his speech, Zhao Hui fully affirmed JISCO’s technological commitment. He stated that against the backdrop of long-term external technological barriers to zinc, aluminum, and magnesium (ZAMC) products, Jiuquan Iron & Steel (JISCO) successfully produced China’s first coil of ZAMC product with independent intellectual property rights in 2016 after years of research and development. This filled a gap in my country’s sheet and strip industry at the international standard level, gaining recognition for “Made in China” on the global stage.
According to reports, compared to the ZAMC products produced in 2016, the new generation of products has achieved a comprehensive upgrade: corrosion resistance has doubled, achieving a qualitative leap; surface Vickers hardness has reached HV190 or higher, significantly enhancing scratch resistance; coating adhesion has passed the 180° bending 0T-3T test without peeling, effectively solving the coating damage problem that easily occurs in traditional products during complex processing. Furthermore, the new generation of products, through optimized coating structure and phase composition, further enhances the ability to inhibit cut corrosion, achieving a breakthrough extension of service life in highly corrosive environments of C5-CX.
At the press conference, Jiuquan Iron & Steel Hongxing Hongyu New Materials Co., Ltd. signed cooperation agreements with eight companies, including Tianjin Huizhongyuan, Chengdu Dingxinda, and Shanghai Huashike. These agreements cover multiple areas such as deep processing of new materials, market promotion, and technical services, laying a solid foundation for building a nationally important zinc-aluminum-magnesium deep processing base.
During the press conference, attendees watched a promotional video for Jiuquan Iron & Steel’s new generation of zinc-aluminum-magnesium products. Experts from China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group Co., Ltd., Beijing University of Science and Technology, SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Steel Union E-commerce Co., Ltd. delivered four high-quality keynote speeches, providing in-depth interpretations of the R&D prospects, protection mechanisms, testing and certification, and industry trends of zinc-aluminum-magnesium materials. Li Jiuling, a senior expert in the field of continuous hot-dip galvanizing of wide strip steel in China, delivered a speech, highly praising the technological content and market potential of Jiuquan Iron & Steel’s new products and expressing high expectations for the future development of China’s coating materials industry.
This press conference was not only a concentrated display of Jiuquan Iron & Steel’s technological strength and standard-setting authority, but also a solemn commitment by the company to fulfill its mission of building a strong materials nation during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
