On April 1st and 2nd, the process optimization and product structure adjustment project of Jiuquan Iron & Steel Carbon Steel Thin Plate Plant, undertaken by MCC TianGong Industrial Engineering Co., Ltd., achieved two key milestones: the first steel column of the heating furnace plant was successfully hoisted into place, and the gas inside the heating furnace was completely vented. This marked the project’s official entry into the main structure construction phase, launching a full-scale 100-day construction campaign.
The plant columns are the core supporting structure of the heating furnace area, and their installation quality directly affects the accuracy of subsequent equipment installation and the overall stability of the plant. The hoisting of the first steel column faced challenges such as limited space, numerous overlapping operations, and high precision requirements for high-altitude installation. To ensure the successful completion of the hoisting, the project team planned comprehensively, continuously optimized the hoisting plan, and organized safety and technical briefings in advance. During construction, technical personnel monitored the entire process and used a total station for real-time correction, ultimately strictly controlling the verticality deviation of the steel column to within 2 millimeters. The installation results, far exceeding the specifications, demonstrated TianGong Construction’s professional level and excellent quality. To ensure construction safety, the project team has assigned experienced and highly qualified safety officers to supervise the entire process. A tiered trial lifting plan is implemented, including a static test 30 centimeters off the ground before formal lifting. Rigorous procedures and strict standards are used to comprehensively strengthen safety measures.
After the owner’s heating furnace gas is vented, the project team will adopt a “zoning and parallel advancement” construction mode, deploying over ten large demolition machines and over thirty transport vehicles. A “work without rest” system will be implemented, and an intelligent monitoring system will be introduced to monitor the demolition process in real time, ensuring construction safety. This will launch a comprehensive campaign to tackle key tasks such as the demolition of the old plant’s heating furnace and B-line tunnel furnace buildings, the safe demolition and reuse of 2,000 tons of scrap equipment and steel structures, and the construction of new equipment foundations.
This project is a key initiative for Jiuquan Iron & Steel Group to actively respond to the national green development strategy, promote ultra-low emission transformation and intelligent upgrading, and contribute to the “dual carbon” target. The project’s construction and production must be closely coordinated with the owner’s production schedule.
